Fabian Marcaccio (Argentina)

Fabián Marcaccio (Argentina, 1963) es conocido por sus obras que

abordan el concepto de la pintura tradicional en la era digital. Nacido

de una madre argentina nativa y padre italiano en Rosario de Santa Fe,

Argentina, Marcaccio infunde temas transculturales en su arte. Asistió

a la Universidad de Filosofía en Rosario, y en 1985 ganó el Primer Premio

en el Premio Esso de Pintura y Dibujo en Buenos Aires. Este premio le otorgó

una beca para estudiar en el Taller de Grabado en la ciudad de Nueva York,

donde todavía vive y trabaja. El estilo de Marcaccio es bastante único ya que

no cae en ningún movimiento particular de Arte Contemporáneo. Trabajando dentro de las teorías de la pintura tradicional, combina técnicas de impresión digital, fotografía y escultura para crear un híbrido al que llama "Paintants". Explora numerosos medios y combina diferentes formas de arte en sus lienzos ambientales, de lienzo estructural y de animación. Sus Paintants ambientales son enormes imágenes panorámicas que rodean al espectador. En 2003, Marcaccio instaló una pintura de 300 metros de largo llamada Confine Paintant a lo largo de las costas de Gante, Bélgica. Creó esta obra en plein air, con el viento soplando arena sobre la pintura. Es una pieza de dos lados, dividida en nueve partes montadas a lo largo del horizonte, de modo que el espectador puede literalmente entrar y salir observando la pintura tanto en la ciudad urbana como en el océano vacío. En 2001, Marcaccio recibió una subvención del proyecto del Wexner Center en Columbus, OH, por su colaboración con el arquitecto Greg Lynn (estadounidense, b.1964) en Predator. También recibió el Premio Bernhard Heiliger de Escultura en 2011.
